Why did we create SportsGuysIowa?

We came up with the idea for Sports Guys Iowa because we thought it would be great fun, and to help promote Iowa High School and Iowa College and University Athletics. The mobile revolution has delivered many great things, but the one downside is that the coverage of high school and Iowa College Sports has drastically decreased. That newspaper beat writer who covered their local High School and Smaller College and University is sadly no longer employed to cover those stories. Our teams objective former athletes, sports fans, and former newspaper writers is to build a website that covers these schools and athletes at the highest level possible. Our team is made up of volunteers – Former Newspaper writers, Iowa High School athletes, Iowa Small college athletes, and experienced writers. What unites our team of volunteers is our love of sports (that our family would say politely borders on obsession) and the fact that this project will give some coverage for many Iowa athletes that deserve it. We have 2 goals- 1. Increase the sports coverage for local Iowa High School Sports, and smaller Iowa Colleges and Universities (The Hawkeyes and Cyclones are already covered extensively by many great reporters). 2. Have Fun. Our editorial contributors are former Iowa High School athletes, Iowa College Athletes, and avid sports fans who volunteer their time and effort to IowaSportsGuys. Our team is avid sports fans, but we all have day jobs….so, each contributor volunteers their time when they can. So, we appreciate your support reading our work and supporting our efforts. We are looking for people who want to have fun covering their teams, and help fill the news gap for Iowa College and Iowa High School sports.
