Waukee senior-to-be Evan Jacobson has been one of the most sought-after football recruits in America for the last few years. The 6’7” tight end wrapped up his college recruitment today as he took to X to announce that he’ll be attending Texas A&M in the fall of 2026.

Texas A&M is one of the most passionate football fan bases in the country. It is the largest University in the Nation with 76,000+ students in College Station, Texas (70 or so miles outside of Houston). They play homes games at historic Kyle Field with 102,733 seats that are filled every week.
Aggie fans are so passionate about their team, that they have their own language – Gig em! and Howdy, is always used as their greeting. In the twitter post, Evan shows he is clearly already picking up on the lingo.
Jacobson hauled in 20 receptions for 198 yards and five touchdowns for the Warriors during the 2024 season. He helped them finish with a 6-4 record as they bowed out to Liberty (Iowa City) in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Jacobson’s ability to use his big frame to create mismatches in the red zone has been his calling card in his high school career. He was the team’s second leading receiver last year and is slated for a larger role in 2025 with the graduation of St. Thomas bound Maverick Inman, who racked up 747 receiving yards to go along with eight touchdowns in 2024.
In addition to being a star on the gridiron, Jacobson gives opposing teams problems on the basketball court as well. The future Aggie averaged 18 points per game and just under nine rebounds per contest in 23 games last season. He helped the Warriors go 18-7 on the hardwood before losing to Linn-Mar (Marion) in a dogfight at the Casey’s Center, then known as Wells Fargo Arena this spring.
Jacobson and the Warriors are members of Class 5A District 2 this season along with West (Waterloo), Marshalltown, Dallas Center-Grimes, Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines), and Kennedy (Cedar Rapids). They travel to Johnston on Friday, August 29 for week one action against the Johnston Dragons.
As always, we appreciate your comments and support.
