This winter and into 2026, we will cover 21 teams on our weekly men’s and women’s BB update. All the Iowa NAIA teams, DII, and DIII teams from Briar Cliff to William Penn.
The NAIA Season had been in motion for some time and the DIII and DII seasons really just got started.

NAIA and DII Women’s Basketball Update
Dordt is off to a 7-0 start. The two-time defending NAIA national champions are number #1 in the Nation. Dordt is the most accomplished women’s basketball program in the state. Briar Cliff is number #9 in the nation and off to a 7-0 start. The Chargers are a very strong team and the upcoming games with Dordt are going to be great basketball games.
Morningside is 5-0 and receiving votes in the national poll. Northwestern College is 4-0. Grandview is 4-3 and receiving votes in the national poll.
Mt. Mercy is 3-3. Clarke is 3-3. Graceland is 1-5. William Penn is 2-5, and Waldorf is 0-5.
Division II Upper Iowa was predicted to be 8th in the 15 member GLVC conference. They are off to an 0-2 start.
NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Update
Coe College 2-0 is ranked #26 in D3 preseason and off to a good start.
Wartburg is 1-3 but predicted to be a top team in the A-R-C (2nd) and are the defending conference champs. Simpson is 2-0 (4th preseason A-R-C). Luther is 2-1 (4th preseason A-R-C).
Central College is off to a 4-1 start (5th preseason A-R-C) and we had a chance to sit down and do a podcast and interview with Coach Weiland.
Cornell College 3-1 is preseason #2 in the Midwest Conference and a strong squad. Grinnell is 1-1 and preseason #4 in the Midwest Conference.
Loras is 1-1. University of Dubuque is 2-2. Buena Vista is 2-2 in the A-R-C.
It is going to a be a fun Basketball season. Dordt is a superpower. Coe is off to a strong start as expected, Briar Cliff is top 10 in the country….there are a lot of great players and teams to follow this fall.
