SGI Weekly Men’s Basketball Recap 11.11.25

This winter and into 2026, we will cover 22 teams on our weekly men’s and women’s BB update. All the Iowa NAIA teams, DII, and DIII teams from Briar Cliff to William Penn.

The NAIA Season had been started for a couple of weeks and the DIII and DII seasons really just got started this past weekend.

NAIA and DII Men’s Basketball Update

Northwestern College is off to a 5-0 start and a #8 National Ranking in NAIA. Jesse Van Kalsbeek from MOC-Floyd Valley, IA is off to a blistering start with 31 Points per game and 12.4 Rebounds per game.

William Penn is off to a 5-0 start for program with a great basketball history.

Grandview is 4-2. Dordt is off a 3-2 start and led by Jake Hargens from Sioux Center, IA at 19.8 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Briar Cliff is 2-2. Waldorf is 3-3. Graceland is 3-2. Mount Mercy 3-3 and led by Jackson Fried from Bondurant Farrar, IA at 21.5 points per game. Clarke is off to a 2-4 start. Morningside is 1-3. St. Ambrose is off to a 1-2.

Division II Upper Iowa has not had an official game yet as they fell in an exhibition to the University of Northern Iowa 96-67 this weekend.

NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Update

In the only non-exhibition game that two Iowa teams have played Coe College (1-0) defeated Cornell College (0-1) 80-69 led by Cole Hrubes Cedar Rapids Kennedy with 19 points.

Simpson is 1-1 after two tourney games this season. Loras is 1-1. Wartburg went 2-0 over the weekend. Central went 1-0 on a very long road trip to UW-Superior in Wisconsin. Luther is 1-0.

Grinnell scored over 100 points in their opening victory to go 1-0. The Pioneers are predicted to be second in the Midwest Conference preseason poll.

University of Dubuque the predicted preseason winner of the American Rivers Conference is off to a 2-0 start. Buena Vista has not played a game yet in 2024-2025.

It is going to a be a fun Basketball season. Northwestern is off to a great start, traditional power William Penn is off to a 5-0 start. Grinnell is piling up points and predicted to have a strong season. The University of Dubuque is off to a great start. Those are just a few of the storylines to follow this winter and into 2026.
