SGI NCAA DIII Football Power Rankings 10.26.25

The column this week will be short. We at SGI, as Coe College homers do not like to write the following line but…

Wartburg is the best DIII Program in the state and has been for many years. Until someone knocks them off…which will not happen this year, it appears, the Knights will Rule the Iowa DIII Iron Throne.

This Saturday’s Results

#7 Wartburg 8-0 defeated #14 Central (6-1) 28-13

Simpson (4-3) beat Dubuque (3-5) 27-7

Coe (5-2) beat Luther (0-8) 42-21 – Led 42-0 at halftime

Loras (2-5) defeated Buena Vista (2-5) 28-14

Grinnell (1-5) lost 38-7 to University of Chicago

Cornell (2-5) lost to Lake Forest 24-49

Iowa’s DIII Football teams are made up of 8 teams that compete in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) and two that compete in the Midwest Conference (MWC).

Three teams are in the Mix for the NCAA playoffs – Wartburg of course…. Coe and Central both have to win out (they play each other in the last game of the season in Pella which could be a win, and you are in game) and see what the committee says about their resume.

The past two seasons Coe has earned an at large bid for the A-R-C (Wartburg of course won the conference) which indicates the winner of that game (if both win out to get there) has a real shot of an at large bid. Both teams have strong resumes.

1. Wartburg Is the King.

Wartburg is in spite of our picking against them as SGI guys regularly is the king. No dispute. All hail the king. Jordan once again picked against the Knights and is getting doxed for the poor choice (just kidding).

The Dutch and Kohawks have to win out…

The Central Dutch are likely to drop from #14 to the back of the top 25 with loss. They and Coe must win out and then the showdown game in Pella could be a great contest.

Simpson College handled Dubuque

The Storm had a big 20-point win and are in the top four of the A-R-C. They are a building program and getting to the top 4 is an achievement for the Storm.

The rest of our top 10 is working to build momentum for 2026. Loras has back-to-back wins and is moving up and building momentum.

As always, we appreciate your comments and support.
