SGI Men’s Basketball Power Rankings – D2 – NAIA

Our first SGI Men’s Basketball Power Rankings for the basketball season are out. It is difficult to early in the season properly rank the teams as the non-conference schedules vary widely, but now that conference play is starting, we will start our SGI weekly power rankings.

The SGI power rankings for NAIA and D2 rank 12 teams from St. Ambrose in the East to Briar Cliff in the West.

So, we expect a lot of movement in the rankings after the new year as it becomes clearer on which teams are rising and contending for postseason March Madness basketball.

Between the Baseline and Basket – SGI Basketball Coverage

So, our first SGI Power Ranking for the 2025-26 Season for the 14 NAIA Men’s Teams that we cover are as follows.

Upper Iowa (8-2) is off to a strong start in D2 in the GLVC with a victory over a top 25 team and is undefeated in the conference (15 Teams in the GLVC). See our breakdown on Upper Iowa’s great start and recent games in our podcast below.

Northwestern College is highly ranked #17 in NAIA at 13-3. Graceland is off to a great start in the Heart of America Conference and ranked #22 nationally. Morningside is 9-5 and receiving votes in the NAIA Poll.

Grand View 9-5, William Penn 9-4, and Dordt 9-6 are off to strong starts. Briar Cliff is 7-6, Mount Mercy is 7-7, St. Ambrose 4-8, Waldorf 4-10, and Clarke 3-11 round out our first set of rankings for the 25-26 season.
