Yesterday, we had the chance to see the Vikings continue their quest to win back-to-back NAIA Football Championships. It was great to see Grandview up close and personal, and they had a good mix of offense and as always a stifling defense.
The Vikings put on a dominant performance against Lindsey Wilson with a 35-7 victory on a cold day in Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines. (The snow started right at the conclusion of the game)
The win sets up a home semi-final game at the Duke in Des Moines next Saturday. The winner of the game heads to the NAIA National Title Game on December 20th in Ft. Worth Texas.
The Vikings were rolling and defensively stopping Lindsey Wilson on fourth down after forth down to take a halftime lead of 14-10.
The final score of 35-7 was about right, as Grandview showed they were on the day, a team that was 3-4 touchdowns better than the opposition.
Next weekend’s game against Benedictine is a rematch of the first game in for Grandview where they beat Benedictine at home on their closest game of the year 27-24 (this was Benedictine’s second game of the year).
Grandview last lost on December 2nd in 2023 (over two years ago) and is on a 27-game winning streak. The Ravens are based in a suburb of Kansas City, so they should be showing up with a strong fan base on Saturday in Des Moines next Saturday.
That home field advantage that the Vikings worked so hard to earn this year, could be the difference between winning and losing. So, get out and pack the Duke in Des Moines this weekend and help the Vikings get down to Ft. Worth to defend their title.
As always, we appreciate your comments and support.
